I’m über excited about starting Several Starry Nights. I had lots of fun experimenting with blogging on The Modern Grad, but I decided that I needed a blog that really captures who I want to become and what I’m striving for.
For the last 7 months, I’d get off work around 4:30 and start what I look at as my second job or an unpaid internship. I would either be working on my book (which guess what…it’s called SEVERAL STARRY NIGHTS! Are you seeing a pattern?) or would do volunteer work for the local arts council. Both activities strongly relate to what I love most: The fabulous world of art and my love for writing.
My book, Several Starry Nights, captures a young artist’s life back at home in Chicago after she runs out of money and loses her boyfriend in London. Back home, she meets a boy who is in deep college debt and never had the confidence to pursue his dreams of becoming a famous poet. “Together they learn to paint the city again.” (How cute would that phrase look on a book cover?)
I feel like this book is becoming a time capsule to me since it is structured around all things that inspire me the most. Current events, pop culture, fashion, music, famous artists/writers, etc, all make a mark in this book. Like an online mood board with stories to describe the pictures, this blog will capture everything that has made even the smallest dent of influence.
